Sean Hannity Is Less of a Blowhard; Setting Up Christie 2016

Tickers in this article: NWSA
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- As much as I understood Jim Cramer's Obama landslide prediction, I have to admit I was a bit annoyed in the aftermath.

I was the one who was right about the election (!): "Obama seals the deal relatively early Tuesday night with more than 290 electoral votes. Christie runs as a moderate Republican and a 'uniter' in 2016."

Without Hurricane Sandy, Obama probably still would have won the election, but only by a hair. Maybe even in court.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie -- in classic theatrical style -- won it for Obama. By election eve, muzzled Romney staffers had to be downing straight shots of Jack as they watched Bruce Springsteen yuck it up with Christie via telephone aboard Air Force One.

Obama won by a wide margin and won Florida because of Sandy. Competent hurricane response resonates with many residents of the state. Voters in key swing states saw what went down in the uncharacteristically quiet lead-up -- at least campaign-wise -- to the election. Sandy and Christie influenced the vote. Big time.

A somewhat ironic aside: Early in his radio career, Rush Limbaugh used the name 'Jeff Christie.' No joke. It's a conspiracy!

Now, Fox News' ... person who "talks" on TV ... Sean Hannity says he has "evolved" on immigration. Hannity doesn't think we should banish "law-abiding" illegals from the country. If they're not criminals and they contribute to society, secure the borders first then provide people already here a path to citizenship.

How sensible, Sean!

Oddly, evolving -- in the minds of many conservatives like Hannity -- is something you do reluctantly. It's like he was at a wedding and somebody said, "Sean, have another glass of wine! Dance with somebody who's not your wife!!" Uncharacteristically, Sean let his hair down and went with it. And, incredible, he didn't even regret it in the morning!

Hannity and Christie, whether they realize it or not, are helping the Republican party progress.
