The Best Tax Day Freebies and Meal Deals

Tickers in this article: FB ODP TWTR

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Be honest. Unless your birthday falls on April 15, you don't look forward to Tax Day.

But, if you're always looking for a good deal, or like the word "Free" -- Tax Day isn't all bad.

For years now, companies jump on every holiday and notable day marked on your calendar from St. Patrick's Day to National Ice Cream Day and now Tax Day. With Facebook and Twitter , companies can get more attention as deals are re-tweeted and shared.

Most of the deals involve a meal or snack, but you can also shred documents and get a massage for free, as Uncle Sam asks you to fork over its dues.

Consumers Experiencing Freebie Fatigue?

With deals being posted during every holiday and pseudo holiday, expect to see chains slowly phasing them out.

Freebies helped drive traffic during the recession, and pent-up demand to eat out will likely drive restaurant industry sales to a record high in 2014. That's according to the National Restaurant Association's Restaurant Industry Forecast report. The trade group projects restaurant and foodservice sales to top $683 billion this year. That's a rise of 3.6% compared to 2013.

Enjoy the deals while you can.

Here are my top picks, food and non-food (based on the nature of the deal and creativity).

  1. Hydromassage: Preparing your taxes is a daunting and stressful task. You can get a free massage at participating locations. The best part -- the offer runs all week, from April 14 through 18.

  2. Hard Rock Cafe: You'll have to work for this freebie. The kitschy restaurant chain calls it the "Sing for Your Supper" event.  Guests who perform a complete song live on stage will be treated try to a free meal from the Hard Rock's new menu.
