BROCKTON
Flip through the new book by James Benson, and you’ll see images of the Pickard Bros. cars manufactured on Foundry Street in the early 1900s, photos of long-demolished mansions designed by City Hall-designer Wesley Minor for city shoe barons, and pictures of Rocky Marciano with Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy.
Many of the photos come from the Brockton Public Library and haven’t been seen in 100 years, Benson said.
“Images of America: Brockton Revisited,” released this week, is published by Acadia Publishing. The cover carries an image of Marciano at a “welcome home” event in Brockton, with his beaming mother standing at his side.
The Brockton Historical Society will hold a release party on Feb. 12 at the First Lutheran Church, 900 Main St., from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is $5.
The book will be available on site and at www.brocktonhistoricalsociety.org.
