Elzinga & Volkers recognized by state's subcontractors
For the second consecutive year, Holland-based Elzinga and Volkers has received a high nod from the American Subcontractors Association of Michigan.
The general contractor was chosen Monday as the first runner up for the Michigan Contractor of the Year. Last year, the company was awarded the top honor. Dan Vos Construction won the top honors and second runner up was awarded to Owen Ames Kimball.
The contractor of the year nominees are selected by the subcontractors association’s membership, a statement from Elzinga and Volkers said. It is a chance to recognize general contractors or construction managers for best practices, professionalism and collaboration with Michigan’s subcontractors.
Voting is done online. Subcontractors score the nominees bids on ethics and practice, safety, jobsite supervision, communication, schedule coordination, project relations, lien processes, administrative procedures, payment terms and quality workmanship.
Elzinga and Volkers was established in 1945, remains headquartered in Holland and received other awards, including the Associated Builders and Contractors Safety Contractor of the Year award for two years in a row, according to the American Subcontractors Association Michigan magazine. The company also has been recognized as one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.
