Holland Board of Public Works awarded from Michigan Water Works
The Holland Board of Public Works received two awards Wednesday from the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association.
The first was the 2013 Exemplary Water Protection Program award for a medium-size system for implementing an effective source water protection program. The plan helps detail efforts to protect the city’s drinking water, said Jim Van De Wege, BPW water treatment plant superintendent, in a statement from the BPW.
The award was given for effectiveness, innovativeness of the program approach and the difficulties overcome by the organization with consideration to the resources available for the development and implementation of the program.
The BPW was also selected as the Class III recipient of the 2013 Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association Safety Award for water utility safety programs, and involves the review and evaluation of the utilities’ safety record and safety program.
