U.S. Sen. Robert Casey, D-Pa., lauded the almost $17 million allocation by the Army Corps of Engineers for the Delaware River dredging project.

“I think it’s a substantial step forward in a project that will have a huge impact on job creation not only in Southeast Pennsylvania but also in the whole region,” the senator said.

Casey communicated to the president and vice president about the importance dredging the Delaware River by 5 feet has for the region. Advocates say it will create thousands of jobs, reduce shipping costs, make maritime transportation more efficient and make the channel safer and more reliable.
