Obama Breaks Out Playlist on Spotify

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Barack Obama is suggesting a fresh set of tunes to add to your iPod.

The president released on Spotify his "2012 campaign playlist," which included 28 tracks of pop, rock, indie, Motown and more as his campaign incorporated another social networking device to connect with supporters.

"Behold: the 2012 campaign playlist on Spotify. What would you add to it? (No casting aspersions on Earth, Wind, & Fire, now.)," reads the statement on Obama's Web site.

On the list is James Taylor's "Your Smiling Face," Aretha Franklin's "The Weight," Jennifer Hudson's "Love You I Do," and Al Green's "Let's Get Together," among other singles. Sugarland received two nods from the commander-in-chief with their songs "Stand Up" and "Everyday America."

Obama has utilized major social media outlets to generate buzz since his 2008 campaign, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and now Spotify.
