Holliston Pantry Shelf to offer turkey dinner
The annual Holliston Pantry Shelf Turkey Dinner takes place Sept. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Holliston High School, 370 Hollis St. The cost for adults is $15 and $8 for children ages 8-12. The dinner is free for children 7 and under. Dinner includes beverages and dessert. Tickets can be purchased at Coffee Haven, Holliston Superette, Pejamajo Café and the Town Clerk's office. All proceeds benefit the Holliston Pantry Shelf. Also, during Celebrate Holliston on Sept. 21, the Big Red Pantry Van will be at Goodwill Park on Green Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where attendees can buy one-of-a-kind, hand-knitted hats from Holliston resident Jill Roberson. Hats will sell for $25-$35. Additional handmade items will also be available with Roberson donating her proceeds and time to the Holliston Pantry Shelf. In other news, John Paltrineri of Fiske's General Store in Holliston recently presented a $450 check to Carl Damigella, president of the Holliston Pantry Shelf. Fiske's ran a promotion throughout July and August donating $5 to the pantry for every new or renewed membership to the "Friends Of Fiske's" discount club.
Ideal Image to open center in Shrewsbury
Ideal Image, a Florida-based specialist in laser hair removal, is coming to Massachusetts with the grand opening of three centers. To celebrate these new locations, Ideal Image will hold special grand opening events at all three locations during September and October. These free events will feature discount offers on all laser hair removal packages, live demonstrations and presentations, prize giveaways, refreshments and more. The schedule for each new location opening is as follows: Sept. 24, 100 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury; Oct. 4, 30 Forbes Road, Suite F, Braintree; and Oct. 11, 123 Turnpike St., North Andover. Each event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. As part of the company’s broad national expansion effort this year, Ideal Image now has more than 115 centers in 31 states across the United States with additional centers planned to open this year and into early 2014. Dover Rug to host book signing in Natick
Dover Rug & Home is sponsoring several events this fall to offer attendees the opportunity to learn about the culture, history and tradition of rug making and the countries where these rugs are made. On Sept. 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., there will be a book signing and presentation by Qais Akbar Omar, author of "A Fort of Nine Towers." Omar, manager of a family carpet business in Kabul, Afghanistan, tells the story of living through a brutal civil war and Taliban rule. Autographed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
