Canandaigua, N.Y.
For one Hopewell woman, 38 is her new lucky number.
Joanne Glod purchased a scratch-off lottery ticket at the Wegmans on Eastern Boulevard in Canandaigua Saturday and the $20 purchase netted her $150,000. The ticket was a “Mega Money Multiplier,” where if the player’s number matches the winning number, he/she wins the listed amount. According to the New York State Lottery website, the odds of winning $150,000 in the game that Clod played are one in 252,000.
Glod said she plays the lottery with semi-regularity — she’ll often buy a ticket while shopping.
However, she’ll rarely get more than a $5 or $10 ticket. She has won small amounts but nothing large, and certainly nothing that is six-figures.
Glod added that her family — husband Larry, two children and five grandchildren — were all equally excited about the winnings.
“When I told people, I got a lot of, ‘you won what?’” she sai
