George H.W. Bush to Endorse Mitt Romney

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Former President George H.W. Bush plans to formally endorse Mitt Romney.
The two Republicans will appear Thursday at an event in Houston as Bush will endorse the front-runner candidate, Romney spokeswoman Gail Gitcho told reporters.

Bush, the 41st president, backed Romney in December, but didn't offer him a formal endorsement.
Romney currently leads the Republican presidential nomination by an average of 8.2 percentage points in national polls, according to RealClearPolitics.com.
With a large delegate-count lead, Romney has continued to campaign heavily in Maryland and Wisconsin as the two states are the next primary contests on April 3.
