NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- U.S. stocks were slipping Wednesday as the markets weighed weak manufacturing reports from Europe and China against a strong reading on the domestic housing market.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 3.9 points, or 0.03%, at 12,962. The S&P 500 was behind by 1.5 points, or 0.1%, at 1361. The Nasdaq was falling 7 points, or 0.2%, at 2942.

The market was adding to losses from yesterday, when the Dow retreated from an intraday level of 13,000. Lack of buying momentum was exasperated by the end of the corporate earnings season.
