Pro-Obama Super PAC Roars at Romney

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Priorities USA Action, the super PAC backing Barack Obama, has lunged into general-election mode with ad buys in key swing states.

The PAC launched an anti-Mitt Romney television ad in Ohio, Iowa, Virginia and Florida at a $660,000 cost, according to The Associated Press. The buy was the group's first major expenditure since Rick Santorum dropped from the GOP primary race to virtually guarantee Romney's nomination.

The ad spot slams Romney for having paid less taxes than many middle-class families as an infamous photo appears of the former Massachusetts governor with cash stuffed in his pockets surrounded by former private equity colleagues.

Priorities USA Action made its last ad buy on April 4 for an amount of $272,026, according to ProPublica's PAC Track. The PAC has struggled to raise funds to match the hefty war chest Restore Our Future has filled to support Mitt Romney.

Through February, Priorities USA Action had raised $6.5 million, whereas Restore Our Future had amassed $43.2 million.
