Nike, Goldman, Visa Attain Blue-Chip Status

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The Dow Jones Industrial Index components will rotate for the first time in a year.

Nike , Visa and Goldman Sachs will replace Alcoa , Hewlett-Packard and Bank of America , respectively, on the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P Dow Jones Indices said in a statement. The changes will be effective as trading opens on Sept. 23.

The last change to the blue-chip index came on Sept. 14, 2012 when UnitedHealth Group replaced Kraft Foods .

Alcoa's removal comes more than 54 years after it first entered the index in 1959 as Aluminum Company of America. Bank of America has remained in the index for five years, while H-P first listed on the Dow Jones in March 1997.
