Field of Dreams Indoor Hitting Facility helps athletes keep up their game
CANASTOTA >> Just because there’s snow on the ground doesn’t mean training stops for baseball players, said David Muraco, director of operations at the new Field of Dreams indoor hitting facility in the Canastota Business Park.
“We had so many requests to try to find something out this way and we have been searching for something we can have back in the Madison County area,” he said.
The business started in Utica at the Field of Dreams Sport Complex on 2413 State Route 5. The indoor training facility is used for baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, football, volleyball and field hockey. Athletes can also go the complex to train for speed and agility.
But Muraco said he wanted to provide athletes with a more convenient location for private or group lessons.
“We want to get more kids exposed to quality instruction,” he said. “Our goal is to give proper education and to help that player become better.”
The facility will be open based on need. Muraco said the primary season runs from November to April. Each session needs to be booked in advance for individuals and groups.
The facility currently has one cage available. All four instructors will work with softball and baseball players on hitting, catching, fielding and pitching.
Muraco added that the instructors have a combined total of 100 years of experience in coaching or teaching the sport.
Field of Dreams is located at 3 Technology Blvd. in Canastota .
