Where to Eat in D.C. During the Inaugural

LAS VEGAS (TheStreet) -- This year's inauguration is not only packed full of events (the worship service, the swearing in, the dinner, the ball), but packed with dining opportunities as well. To start, you might want to relive President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama's famous date night in New York, and Birch & Barley executive chef Kyle Bailey is a veteran of the New York culinary institution Blue Hill, the scene of that date. Located in the capital's hip stretch of 14th Street near Logan Circle, Birch & Barley delivers a unique food and beer experience, with a full spectrum of styles, traditions, regions and flavors with 555 artisanal beers curated by beer director Greg Engert and and desserts by pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac. The last inaugural luncheon featured molasses sweet potatoes, but perhaps Bailey's Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts will prevail this time.

Bailey and MacIsaac -- husband and wife -- are overdue to open a a fried chicken and doughnut concept called GBD (Golden Brown Delicious) in the DuPont Circle section of D.C. The menu includes decadent doughnuts such as the Pretty Cadillac (Grapefruit-Campari Old Fashioned with pink sanding sprinkles) and Coco Loco (Coconut Old Fashioned, pina colada glaze and toasted coconut) that could certainly satisfy any sugar craving.
