Earlier this week GoDaddy.com, the Website URL licensing/control giant had a giant online meltdown.
For a large portion of the working day, earlier this week, GoDaddy administered Website were completely unreachable.
Despite rumors of hackers being responsible, GoDaddy later reported that they hadn't been hacked. They say the problem had been due to a series of “internal network events which corrupted router data tables”.
They say they have taken steps to fix the problem along with an assurance that no personal information had been compromised. They even use bold type to make their point:
“At no time was any sensitive customer information, including credit card data, passwords or names and addresses, compromised.
But, no refund was offered.
Until today.
GoDaddy has just emailed a real, written apology to it's customers along with an offer to those affected by their problem: 30% off any new Website registration or renewal. But you have to use the special code they sent in the next seven days.
The clock is ticking.
