U.S. Nonfarm Payrolls Rise 163,000 in July

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The U.S. work force added 163,000 jobs in July; the unemployment rate was 8.3%, the Labor Department said Friday.
Economists polled by Reuters expected nonfarm payrolls to rise by 100,000 last month, after gaining 80,000 in June. The unemployment rate was expected to have held steady at 8.2% last month.
